When I replaced some wood on my last boat, I built a cheapy steam bender using a section of 8" Schedule 40 pvc DWV pipe with some pvc end caps. I then bought a Shark steam machine for $29.95, hooked it to one end of the pipe, and then put a hole in the other end cap so I could get steam flow. The pvc gets a little soft so use 3 or 4 saw horses to support it. I left the wood in there for 5 or 6 hours. Wear gloves when handling!
