Leaky pressure relief valve on Velvet Tranny

Hey Guys
I'm not sure if it is a pressure relief or breather? It looks like it has a cap on it that seems like it wants to come off, but it doesn't the other tranny seems to have some pressure built up and it sealed the valve. The problem one appears to be leaking tranny fluid. Any thoughts? And what exactly is it called? Thanks.

That sounds like the vent on the top of the trans. I've seen this due to a faulty heat exchanger before. Water gets in thru the cooling line, floods the trans and forces oil out thru the vent.

Its a vent /breather .
Check for over filled fluid ( very sensitive to level ) and for water like Paul said even a little water will cause a issue .
The vent has a check valve in it to hold slight pressure ( so it could be bad ),

And your using ATF not oil right ?

there are two bulletins one from BorgWarner and one from Mercruiser one was a baffle that goes in the vent chamber I will try and find that one and the Mercruiser one that there was a different way to have the return line from the oil cooler to the lower right corner of the trans...............

Has anyone removed one of these? What is the best way to remove them? They are not threaded. Looks like they pop in and out? Just want to make sure before I attempt to replace one.
