10.8 Meter Express with Diesels

A nice boat for sale in the Netherlands. Not many made, and this looks to be in good shape. They put a filler pad topside that I may try to duplicate.

The the only Diesel option for this boat was the 3116 TA Caterpillar that was 300 HP.

i love how in the 'stats' section is says, ''very stable and very well build boat, not to be confused with the low quality later carver trojan boats. Original Bertram - Trojan only about 25 build of this model." classic!!
todd, i had no idea that there were so few of this model produced. this is the one designed by the guy that does pershings right? i actually like the design..... hmmmmmmmm.

I would have though the 3116 would be a little tall .But I have only seen 1 ,10.8 meter . I don't know why the don't show Engine room photos and give more info in the specs . sounds like a nice combo for sure .

I thought that was kinda funny also. I'm sure the Carver folks are a little turned off. And yes, this is the Fulvio De Simoni design, with hull design by one of the Bertram guys (Maybe Napier). And from all the research I've done and conversations I've had with John Leed, there were very few made since they started building in 91 and stopped production mid-way through that year. I don't know the exact number, and I didn't want to ask John to go through every file he has.
I too would like to see engine room photos and would like to see the set-up with the V-drives. I've had some alcohol-influenced thoughts of retrofitting with a couple Yanmars, and would like to see how it pairs up with the v-drives.
It is one of the cleaner looking 10.8 Expresses I've seen, and I am jealous of the diesel power.

one of the things that bugs me the most from some of the broker listings is the LACK of engine room/mechanical pictures. i saw a listing a few weeks ago and there must have been 30 pics of the boats exterior from bow on and it just rotated around the exterior. there was only one pic of the port engine. and even then, you could hardly see anything. no sir, show me 'what's under the hood'. when i was looking at tri cabins, first i gave the exterior a look see then once i entered the cabin i did the sniff test----mold, smoke, dead critters, holding tank---- then i dove into the bilge. with a high power LED flashlight. that really ticked off one of the brokers i was dealing with. he said i should wait for the survey before going into the engine room. yeah, right.

If the engine room is crap, why would I pay a surveyor? Clueless broker.
Most Surveyor's are not as strong with mechanicals as they are with structural integrity. As my surveyor said on my survey. Once the deck and hull were determined to be in good shape, the rest is just replaceable parts depending on how much you want to spend.
