Just thought I wpold give everyone an update on the progress of the F-36 bought off E-Bay in September. Both engines and generator were seized. Found two 440s with gears on E-Bay (excellent condition) $800.00. Currently both engines have been installed and test run. 3200 rpm 27 mph gps with plenty of throttle left. Installed 8KW westerbeke deisel generator and used one of the rear tanks for fuel. Inspected all tanks and found them in good condition with a little sludge in bottom. The electrical systems were in suprisingly good condition and have been recommisioned. All systems operational, both AC units annd fridge. Still have some glass work to do on the bridge deck. (Soft spots and a hole where the starboard chair was) All guages operational including anchor windlass. I am having trouble locating a oil pressure sending unit for the origional guages. If anyone knows a part number or where I can find one It would be a help. Checked all stringers an found in good condition. Still have to replace Port spray board. Missing the rear deck hatch cover.
Still have the tabs left fix but otherwise making great progress.

Sounds like you're doing an awesome job. Nothing major there but the repower. I didn't realize those 440s had that much punch. At 3200 my 454s only move the boat about 21mph or so.

This boat is running 20X20 wheels. Ill let you know what full throttle is after this weekend.

David, you must have had a strong following tide and a tail wind. At 3200 my F-36 with 440's and 20x21 wheels only did 20 knots. I say 'did' cause she's hauled out now for a Cummins repower. Full throttle, according to the book, should be 4000 rpm on the 440's.

You're running a DIESEL generator in a GASOLINE ENVIRONMENT.

THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DEADLY SITUATION AS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM ON THE GEN SET IS PROBABLY NOT COMPLIANT TO RUN IN A GASOLINE ENVIRONMENT.

THIS IS SERIOUS.

YOU COULD GO BOOM.

Next Gen power systems makes a 5kW genset that has a CERTIFICATION that it is COMPLIANT to operate in a gasoline environment (I know as I put one in three years prior to doing a repower)

At the very least you need to have your genset's starter set up (rebuilt) to run in a gas environment - I don't know what that entails but this is a very serious matter.

Also look at any wiring and or electric fuel pump or magneto, if there is one.

When I had my boat resurveyed prior to the repower, the surveyor demanded to see the certification on the genset.

I hope you will take this risk very seriously and take immediate action to protect yourself, your crew, your vessel and any neighboring vessels, people or property.
