I just replaced the manifolds on my F36 starboard engine.

I want to clean up the floor and paint it as well as the engine and exhaust risers.
Should I just clean with soap and water or do I have to use a degreaser?
thanks.
You can see the Barr manifolds I took out and the Osco manifolds that I put on.
Today I and my son will go and get the fishing license and I think mine is only around $5-being over 70 yrs old.
Tomorrow I take the boat out for the first time.

I used Bilgekote on some areas of mine. I scuffed the old paint with scotch pads and degreased before applying the new coating.
I have also used the color matched spray paint for my risers and spacers. Didn't perfectly natch the old stuff, but it was close (Crusader blue, not sure what color your engines are).

+1 on the Bilgekote. On the engine I prefer Plastikote engine enamel.

I also use the white bilge coat. To clean up before painting, I use Extreme Simple Green. It cleaned my bilge with 2 passes. I had tried TSP and some other cleaners before I found the Extreme version is SG. I used it on the radiator of my diesel motorhome that had blowby caked on. I sprayed the extreme SG on it and the caked on crud just started running off. I bought it on Amazon. Only problem is that the shipping is more than the gallon costs. But it really works mixed 1 to 1.

I painted the starboard side of the engine room with 2 coats of white bilge coat. It looks great. I uploaded a photo. You can see the difference where it is painted and before on the centerline. I am waiting on more Extreme Simple Green to arrive so I can clean the port side and centerline areas.

Your bilges look great. I'm working on mine as well. BTW, you can get Simple Green Extreme from homedepot.com with FREE shipping. I ordered a case last week (4 gallons) for approx. $78 and received it today.

That is a good source for the extreme SG. I will check into it if I need more.
