Timing on my 1986 454/350's

I'm in the process of upgrading to electronic ignition but while I'm waiting for the kits to come in I'm going to install new points. Of course Murphy's Law always applies and I'm having trouble just getting the the socket to fit on the crank to move cylinder 1 to TDC. Does anyone know what size the bolt is, thinking it was 3/4. Plus does anyone know what the timing should be set to and what the gap is on the points?
Thanks for any help.
Chris

The timing will stay the same even with electronic ignition.
The timing will be 10 degrees BTDC. I usually use a dwell meter to set points at 28-32 (30) degrees. But the point gap will be .019 My small block's crank bolt head is 5/8" I believe...

Thanks for the info. It's very helpful. I ended up getting a 19m on the bolt. At 1000 RPMs my timing was 2 degrees BTDC. The engine wasn't completely warmed up. Should I have waited until it was warmed up and running around 600 rpms to look at the timing?
Thanks again,
Chris
