Trojan 12 meter express

Hi all. I have a 10 meter midcabin model and am considering a bigger boat. Does anyone here have a 12 meter express? A couple of things have led me to look at them.

1. Diesel powered. From my research, I will burn approximately the same fuel per mile, maybe a little less, but cruise at 22-26 knots, cutting down the time for trips like Block Island, etc.
2. The settee flipping up into bunks. With two teens, almost teens, I would plan on the kids sleeping there leaving the dinette up.
3. A little more space in the cabin. the mid cabin has an amazing amount of cabin for the size boat, but it does make it tight for a couple of people to move around.
4. More storage. the mid cabin doesn't have a lazerette which means storage for "Wet: stuff, brushes, etc. becomes a bit of a challenge.

Any and all thoughts are welcome. This in more planning and not something I look to do right away.

I love the 12 meter. Especially the 90 to 92 version. I remember having a conversation with John Leed about power options for my 10.8. He said that choosing power options for the internationals was always a crap shoot and they would test everything. He said the 12 meter with the 6-71 (485 HP version I think) was probably the best performing trojan out there.

I love the 12 meters! Just remember that rebuilding an old diesel engine can give your wallet a Heart attack.
(if you get one I'm going to be really jealous!!!!! LOL)

Still cheaper than a refit. I think I saw a quote of $14000 per engine with a in frame rebuild. If u get the boat priced for an engine rebuild, u essentially have a mechanically sound and really awesome boat that will last for a really long time. It would be tough to find an equivalent new boat for under $500,000.

i know how to use an AED. i LOVE the sound of detroits!! they last forever, they smoke when cold, but man, do they produce a very reassuring rumble. i love when one of our slip holders fires up his chris craft 46 with 6v-71's.

The 12 meter has a very creature comfort layout.

As I understand it but not confirmed- it features tunnel drives?

I've never been aboard a 12 but have been on the 13 and 14.

nice, nice baby !

Looking at a few pictures. It seems to have some tunnel, but not as deep as a Sea Ray 390 for example.
