I have a stuck seacock on my SB engine - the main inlet for engine RWC.
The lock handle broke off.

Looking for advice on how to replace it this off-season. Scary thought tearing into a 40 year old hull.

I found the easiest way is to start cutting it with a sawz-all. On the inside, cut across under the handle. From underneath, put the blade into the intake hole and make several cuts until you're through the bronze and just hitting the glass. Do the same inside the hull.

At this point, use a hammer and chisel and start collapsing the whole thing on itself and it'll come right out with a little force. The bronze is soft, once you make some cuts the whole thing falls apart.

I changes all my thru hull fittings last year for the same reason. I used a small fein tool saw and that worked very well. Cut near the hull inside, right at the base, and then cut the three or four screws on the outside of the strainer and tapped it out.

Once you are 2/3 through on the inside, it could also be bent back and fourth and broken off, saving cut time.
