Frost Laws For Hauling Boat

Post by TADTOOMUCH »

While I waited for the snow and ice to melt so I could launch my boat. I finally wanted to launch her on April 11, 2014.

Well now I am being told they have weight restrictions on the roads until the frost melts under the roadways. This may not be for another two weeks.

When will winter finally give up and let me begin my boating season.

Hoping for an April 18th launch.

We will wait and see.

Weight restrictions are the norm here, though usually each county or city sets its own dates. Your hauler either has a very large rig, or roads are really restrictive

Well basically the frost laws or weight restrictions will be over on April 17 so my boat goes in on the 18th. As the ground thaws in Michigan, the roads can't handle heavy loads until the frost in the ground below the roadbed has melted. That's how pot holes develop so the counties limit weights per axle on asphalt roads until this frost melts. In my case the per axle weight would have been over the legal limit.

No worries now that it is finally going in the water.
