Yes it was. I did not know that could happen. It was not leaking on the outside. So i figured it was all good
Its all back together and running good again. Im just watching those little plugs on the exhaust very close know

Was there any specific indication pointing to why it failed?
She was a 1969 36 ft wooden beauty with big blue 440s that we'll miss forever.

+1 Big D, there is a reason for this situation that can back to haunt you if you don't figure out why. :?

I agree also. Ive been at the boat last couple of days trying to figure it out
I thought it was an oring because i found one pinched. So i pulled risers and elbows down to check. Everything seems to be in order. Plus its all new except for my manifolds
So now i need to pop manifolds off and figure out how to pressure check them
I still have water coming out of the inspection plug on the bottom of the elbow
So what's happening is when the boat sits for awhile water leaks in and spills over to the rear cylinders
And u know the rest
Every time i drain the inspection plug water dumps out
Elbows and riser were shot when i got the boat but manifolds looked good from what i could see

I had a cracked exhaust manifold once. When the engine was running, it was fine. When I turned it off, water ran from the 'wet' side to the 'dry' side, and into any cylinders with open exhaust valves. A couple of days of doing a dozen locks a day... and ... well.... the trip just became a lot less fun. Laid up for 3 or 4 days to get parts, then still had to do a few more oil changes on the way home to get the water out of the oil.

BUT its been fine since!
