wood repair/slider removal

I am very interested to find out how to remove the slider on my F36, if that is really what I need to do. I discovered that the little piece of teak 2 x 4 on the upper Port side of the slider is rotted and removing the slider looks like the only option for replacing the wood. I am open to ideas. I think what killed the wood is that it sits right on the fiberglass and therefore has the potential to be wet always. The starboard side is not completely rotted, but you can tell that it is damp. Any ideas? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Are you looking to remove just the sliding door section? of so, close the door and look up in the upper track, there should be a thin piece of plastic or aluminum screwed into this section, remove all of the accessible screws, now open the door and remove the remaining screws and slide out the shim piece out of the frame. You should be able to lift the door up and out of the lower track and away from the opening.

I think I need to pull the whole frame out as well. I can't figure any better way to get at this lone piece of wood.
