Original Props?

Hey guys,
I have the original manual etc, but no where does it say what the original props were. I have an F36 with twin crusader 454's 350hp. Also what are you guys using now? 3-blade, 4-blade etc. I'm just curious. I have a buddy with a 33 Bertram and I can see propwash moving water as soon as he flicks it into gear. and I sometimes have to give gas to get the movement I need. Thanks in advance.

Your buddy could have diesels or be idling faster
Many F36s are running 20x20 or 20x21 3 blade ( what it came with ) . If your going 4 blade you'll have to drop pitch (19 ?)
I am running 22x22 with a 1.5 to 1 gear but I am running diesels

As usual, Paul is spot on. Our 1973 Sportfish has GM 454s with 1.91:1 gears turning a set of 3 blade 20 x 20 props. (I have a set of 20 x 19 4 blade props that I've never tired). In the spring, when the bottom is perfectly clean, and I have not loaded her up with tons of gear, water, and fuel, at 4000 RPM the GPS shows 30 MPH. She's 40 year old, so I don't make a habit of running that fast and have not tried it in the past 3-4 years. Most of the time, a fast cruise for me is at about 3400 RPM and depending on gear and people it runs about 20-24 MPH. Most of the time, I just puts arond at about 1100-1500 RPM.

When I cleaned up the boat this spring for paint etc I forgot (we are new to the boat) to write down the prop size. It's either 18 x 19 our 19 x 18. Either way it looks like w we might be undersized. My buddy with the Bertram has the same engines as I do. What is the harm in undersized props other than lack of speed?

I did the same thing, except never got a close up of the prop. I'm so bummed about it. I'm planning to do a little diving in a month or so but I am also curious as to what everybody else is running. They seemed a little slow to respond. I'll get the gear ratio when I go down on Friday. Thanks guys!

I finally have the information on the transmissions... I think they are 1.88:1. The guy 2 boats over from me has a 1988 F36 just line mine with 1.91:1. He is running 20x20 props. Anyone have any 20x20's for sale?? 1 3/8" shaft
