Trojan 44 Motor Yacht

Frequent visitor here but have never posted. I am trying to decide between a Chris Craft 410 (1979 or 80) and a Trojan 44 motor yacht (also a 1979 or 80). I like the additional space in the Trojan but am concerned about the issues I have read about with rotten stringers on the F series Trojans. I believe the Chris 410s didn't use wood stringers. I would appreciate opinions from other members of this board on this topic and the F-44 in general.
Thanks,
Bruce

The F44 Motor Yacht is a good boat for us. Unfortunately, I cannot address the question of stringers. Perhaps a good surveyor can help. Our only real issue has been a keel full of water. VERY foul smell in boat. Once drained of water, though, the smell resolved. The Chris 410 is a nice boat but I suspect it is nowhere near the same size. Where do you intend to boat? Does your intended 44 have gas or diesel?

I also have a 79 Trojan F44. It has been a great boat. I second what Peacock says about the water in the keel, I drained mine too and it made a big difference in smell If you ever want to have a conversation about it, I just refit the majority of the boat and know the boat very well, send me a message if you would like to talk.

A 76 F44 with 350 mercs. Any issues? Seems most F44s have diesels.
Marina ad says hour meters are broke. That's odd but they say successful compression test last month.
Id prefer gas on Lake Michigan.
What peaked my interest is no teak on the decks all glass.
No electronics
Nice pictures.
Asking price 14k which is making me investigate! That seems ridiculously cheap.
