F32 SEACOCK LOCATION

Does anyone know why Trojan would have placed the Port engine seacock so close to the shaft and transmission? I have to step up to a 1 1/2" from the existing 1 1/4" and there is not room to place a larger seacock in the same location. In fact, there is not enough clearance for the exiastion sea-cock.
So, choices are...
Block this seacock and drill a new hole?
-OR-
Remome this existing seacock and replace with short thru-hull -to- 90 degree elbow -to- ball valve?
Whaddya you guys think?

With all the work you are doing, I would remove that through hull fitting and glass the hole closed. Then you can put the new one where it actually works the best. I would not try to just make do. Think about servicing the seacock and the prop shaft in the future.

Dang, mine isn't that close. It's well off inboard of the trans and shaft.
The Trojan workers must have installed yours on a Friday. Or a Monday...
I'd probably go the route of blocking and relocating.

When I repowered our F-32, the port side seacock was in the same location, I didn't change the location because I kept the boat in the water during the project, however, I had planned to at the next haul out. I sold the boat before having the chance to move it, the surveyor that the buyer used is known in southern California as "The Deal Killer" , he never said a work about the location.

WTF? Much to the delight of the next owner of my boat, I generally take the long view when effecting repairs and upgrades. I second relocating to a decent location. I presume that you already have the new seacock? The last thing that I would do, since it also constitutes prepping for the relocation, is to remove the existing seacock and double-check the clearance when you temporarily hold the new one in place.
On the other hand, the idea of the elbow and ball valve is not a bad one. If you could find one of these in bronze

It is hard to tell for sure, but it looks like your seacock is located closer to the shaft than Gettaway's.

Boat yard here recommends just that... thru-hull - 90 - ball valve, and I too thought of adding the crash pump (some sort of a T or Y and another ball valve). Functional, easy, cheaper and no new holes in the boat. I can't think of any real drawbacks to that plan, unless there's some safety factor I'm missing.
