Trying to replace some cracked glass on the aft 3 windows on my port side, I removed the h chanels and it doesn't quite seem to fit out, any tricks? I also have cracked glass on the sliders I'd like to replace, I'm assuming that's easier. Between both my F32s I need about 8 pieces, this won't be cheap I assume, what kind of glass is this made out of? Any parts boats around with this stuff? Thanks

So I got my aft 3 port windows out, brought them to a local glass shop, their made of safety glass with a bronze tint, about $55 each to replace, not bad, has anyone removed the sliding doors to replace that glass?

I have had the sliding door itself out a couple of times, but not to replace the glass. I think there are a couple of old threads that talked about how to get the door off.

It would be nice to have a refresher on removing the rear doors. I need to pull out the sill and re-bed it.

The 1980 F32 I bought to resell needs all 3 pieces of glass, I can't seem to find the thread and I'm wondering if it's possible to leave the assembly and just remove the glass

I guess the other threads were more about replacing the rollers, but still involved removing the door.

I have never done it, but it *appears* that the weatherstripping around the edges of the glass on the port and starboard side frames might pop out and pop back in, but again just a guess. I am interested in whatever you find the final solution to be.

So, getting the other two pieces out...

Looks like we need to follow one of these two procedures to get the door out. After that, it looks there there is a bracket on the top and bottom of each of the other pieces of glass. Unscrew those and they should slide to the center and be lifted off the frame; just like a patio door.

There's a lot of glass on the F32. Which are you talking about:
Front windshield.... 3 panes
Side windows 2 sets of two on each side.
Rear door assembly 3 panes

Just the rear door assembly, I removed the side windows and their being made now, looks like I may need to remove the entire 3 piece rear slider as one piece :-/

The rear door is just like a home patio door. In the door top and bottom on the vertical edge are srews to adjust the rollers up & down. So you move rollers in towards centre of panel thus creating more clearance on the ends of door so one can lift bottom up and off the rail that roller runs on. Now you can pull the door down and away. Much like how one does the wood sliding doors in the salon.
The side glass frames are not on rails with rollers just held in place by screws and brackets if I remember.

Thanks for the help on the door, i'll look into it this weekend maybe and getting the side glass out. The story was 7 years or so ago the boat next to her while on the hard caught fire and caused this glass to crack. Their no other signs of damage on the boat other than these cracked pieces of glass. The glass company said the bubbles in the glass give some validation to the story

Progress update, the side windows were a one day turn around, installed and look great, too good maybe, rushing i cracked the 4th glass like a dope Its in the corner, not really noticable.
The rear slider comes out easily.
To do so remove the lower sill in middle, then unscrew the aft thin track, mine had about 4 phillips head screws, youll need to open and close the door to find them all,
then close the door most of the way, lift up and slide out the bottom, easy peasy. the port window slides in easily once you remove the L bracket on the top of the track

I'm totally amazed how beautiful the new glass looks and how great this boat now looks, and what a easy job it was. I just need warm weather and a buyer lol

K4282, Can you give some additional info on the entire salon window, door replacement. Is this a complete replacement of the framing port and starboard fixed windows and screen. Do you mind providing costs for materials and labor.

This model is a 1980, all 3 pieces of glass come out fairly easy and slide, non are fixed, the frame stays. The cost per panel were $140 each piece, said I got a deal because I did so many and brought them to the glass shop. Labor was nothing as I removed all the panels myself.
