Yet another Hurth Transmission question

As some know I have an F 28 project and am in the middle of half repower. When I purchased the boat the port engine was out. I have had other boats in the past with twin engines, but none with twin Hurth transmissions , with V drive. My question is,,,, What determines the direction of prop spin, ? is it the transmission , or the engine. I was concerned for obvious reasons while working on the other engine prior to installation. I have been told that the transmission dictates which direction the prop will spin for forward. Does it matter to the transmission which lever position is forward or reverse? In other words does reverse have same specifications as forward in regard to ratio etc/

Your Hurth (ZF ) gear can be used to change the direction of the shaft . It is capable of full power in both directions ( unlike a velvet drive ) So its possible both your engine turn the same direction and use the gear to change shaft direction . Very common on newer engines and Diesels .
