"Trojan" Lettering cleanup

Since I will soon be reconditioning the gel on my transom, I removed the "TROJAN" lettering and decided to give them a quick clean up. In a previous post, http://www.trojanboats.net/wforum/viewt ... f=1&t=8974, I mentioned that all my letters are cast metal with the exception of the "O" which is plastic. They all looked pretty tired....
I did not do much to clean them up. I dropped them into my tumbler with crushed walnut shells, then again with crushed corn cobs. I then did a quick pass with Flitz and a soft cloth....
Before... Eeeeewww...

After the first pass with crushed walnut shells...

Final product. They aren't fabulous, but it's probably the first time they've been touched in 38 years...
