I'm interested to see what the results of this survey are. It's been three years since mine were replaced and I'll be replacing them this year. My boat is in fresh water, so that might increase the longevity.

I voted 3 years, because that is what I did on my old Mercruisers, but I would also like to see what most people do here. I had a rigid maintenance schedule that offered me the best in service coupled with balanced cost and work load. I am hoping to develop a similar plan for my Chryslers.

I use to inspect yearly ( the 2 out of 3 I could see) and replace every 3 years regardless . I was surprised this year to find 2 impellers in very poor condition going on year 3 ( been 2 1/2 years ) so I replaced all 3 . I also have replaced about a half dozen others so far this year in good to bad condition . One looked great pulling off the cover .But the center had spun so it would not pump water .

With the Mississippi mud and zebra muscles, at least every 2 years and I carry 2 spares on board.

I inspect every year. I also remove them for winter layup.

Make that 0 years... I had a failed impeller right from the start.
