Finally this weekend the boat was ready enough to launch.

When I got to my slip and connected the shore power nothing happened. With the little time I had before I had to leave I checked:

The shore station breakers were checked and they were on.

With an outlet tester I had in my tool bag I check the cables to ensure it was carrying power and they were live, also they are brand new.

Breakers were on in the boat, but voltmeter wasn't reading, no status light illuminated and no power to any outlets, ac etc...

Switch was switched on the shore power side.

I ran the genny for a min or 2, which is the longest it would run with out me holding the throttle open, likely due to a carb in need of a rebuild and also I should replace the fuel filter. Regardless in that time it was running the a/c was able to begin running so I know that side on the panel works fine.

I looked at my wiring diagram and it appears there is nothing between the shore power inlet and panel breakers.

Could I have 2 bad breakers at the panel?

Does the battery charger have an affect on this?

If so where is it located?

It could as easy as the boat side of the shore power plug is bad....pull that out and check the connection pins to wire with meter for continuity then back to the panel, same check.....maybe plug was bad all along......I would do that first.....Mike

Hi Brandon, I just had same problem with my 10 meter I bought over the winter. At marina where I own my slip, we had new electric installed last fall in mhalf the marina. The other half was done two years ago. Between first half and second half, code changed and the later work requires gfi's installed. First half was grandfathered in. When I plugged both my 30 amp cords in I had no power. Everything looked good, but closer examination showed gfi's on shore post were tripped. They don't trip far so at a glance they look ok. Checking with other boats just comming in, any boat with two 30 amp system would throw gfi. Single 30 amp boats were ok. Boats in first half of marina with out gfi plugs were ok. Electrician spent time on boat saying something about how boat system was connected at ground on boat was causing problem. Well. He thought he could fix it at boat but three hours later he put every thing back original on boat, called his boss and put old 30 amp breakers back in and took gfi's with him. Good power now. They still need to figure it out. So check and see if you have a new gfi on your shore power connection.

Mike thank you, I ordered 2 inlets today just incase they are the culprit. Capt G, great thought but I did check if my cables had power with a tester and they do so I don't think that's the issue but I will check again anyway.

Basically my check list is:

Test power at shore station

test power at cable

test power at inlet

test power at panel

test power at output side of breaker

If I am missing something or any additional suggestions please let me know, also my anode plate on the transom is in good condition since that's also a ground.

Does your electrical panel have a switch labeled "shore power 1&2" and "shore power 2"

It says shore power 1 and then shore power 1&2

okay,
When you have a power cord plugged into the upper (1) recepticle, and the switch in Shore Power 1, the entire panel is powered throught the LH breaker at the top of the panel. If that breaker would be bad you would have no power anywhere.
Whith the switch in the Shore Power 1& 2 position, The upper power cord will power the panel through the LH breaker at the top of the panel and the lower power cord will power the panel through the RH breaker at the top of the panel.
There is no left and right hand side, I do not remember the exact order, but it goes something like this, the LH breaker (1) powers every other breaker starting at the top. So if the LH breaker (#1) powers the 1st, 3rd and 5th breaker on each side, then the RH (#2) breaker powers the 2nd, 4th and 6th breaker on each side. On my boat there are only 2 breakers for the Port and Starboard side outlets and they were on the 2nd and 4th positions so they only worked when the switch was in the 1 position with power plugged into the upper power receptical, or the cord was plugged into the lower receptical with the switch in the 1&2 position. I change that.

I get what your trying, to say. I tried a similar configuration alternating plugs and seeing what would power, but still no power, at this point i think i gotta take it apart unfortunately.

I would check power at main circuit breaker and work my way back to the dock power supply. Checking power at the main breaker will tell you which direction to go.
