If it's going in the engine compartment, it needs to be ignition protected which will not be the case in a household unit.

My previous trojan heater was an ac electric 12 gallon underneath a dinette seat. I downsized to 6 gallon ac heater as i do not use the shower.

Camping World has a POU (point of use) 110 volt hot water heater with a decent recovery rate for about $150.00. If you are not using it to shower it's fine for the galley or head sinks.

I'm curious if anyone is looking into tankless heaters?

We don't use the shower, but it would be nice to have some warm water on hand to wash up etc.
