Trojan Boat Forum

I posted a picture of my props in a different post but was asked about the hydraulics that are in the picture. I didn't want to go off topic from the props on that post, so I'm posting the requested pictures on this new post.

The boat is a 1975, 44 FBMY that I bought last year from the original owner. This hydraulic lift system was custom built in Midland, Ontario. I figured that it would carry my inflatable but I wasn't sure if it would carry my sea-doo. Then I found out that it was designed to carry the owner's 14' Boston Whaler. It has a key-fob remote control for up and down, so I now have 3, one for the Trojan and one for each of my tenders.

Whoever installed this deserves some kind of Trojan Award. There are chains and turnbuckles from the upper mounting bolts into aluminum brackets raised on the stringers and then another set of chains and turnbuckles from there down to brackets flush on the stringers. He must have taken the whole aft end of the master suite apart to do this.

I don't really have good pictures of the system. These pictures are from just before I bought the boat so the bottom looks like you'd expect before spring maintenance.

I saw it on your other post and wanted to ask what it was all about, but didn't look like a newb
I assume the one picture shows a locking pin and a latch on a smaller hydraulic cylinder.
Looks like it would weigh quit a bit maybe 700 lbs ish but on a 44' boat likely not noticeable.

Hi Ron, the lift on your boat was built by "Lift & Go Systems" in Midland Ontario. Marc Plourde is the principal of the company. They build lifts with 600 lb. to 1000 lb. capacities depending on the unit. Marc is a great guy. Give him a call if you have any questions about your unit. His # is 705 528 0565. Jim.

Thanks Jimbo, for Marc's contact info. I actually did find him (also how I found out you are no longer in Penetanguishene). I was looking for additional remote controls which I subsequently found from Interactive Technologies in Kansas.

And thanks everyone for the "cool" comments. Actually, one of the coolest things about this boat is the galley. The previous owner (John) is magnificent guy (now 89) and the galley was a present for his wife. It has a stovetop, convection microwave, full size dishwasher, garbage compactor and central vac. This prompted at least one other dishwasher to be installed on his friend's boat by order of his friend's First Mate. John had this boat from Lake Superior to Miami. My wife and I keep him up to date with what his boat is doing. I truly feel like I'm borrowing it from him.
