Hi Guys,

I wonder if one of you might have experience with this. I have 2 Holley Carbs on my Tri-Fly. I am pretty confident they are not original. Model 3279. The question I have is that there is a vacuum port open on both of my carburetors. It might be the ported vacuum for the distributor. not sure either... it is located right under to the electric choke adjuster body. Since the distributors does not require vacuum advance (I could not find a vacuum port on them). Shouldn't this port be capped? the way I see it, this situation will lean out the mixture at idle and at power! Not too good and difficult to adjust...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The port with the brass fitting is for the choke heater . If the choke is fully opening you can plug it off . Can you post a photo of the top of the carb ?( with the flame arrester off )

Christian... the 80551 # is the holley model #, checks as a marine carb, vac secondaries 600 cfm.

At this time, this is the only picture I have. I might be able to go to the boat next weekend to take additional pictures.

I may have seen your Tri-Fly earlier today around 6:15 pm,cruising past the gas dock at Rideau Ferry Harbor. I was crossing the Rideau Ferry bridge in a car at the time. Looked great.

OK. I got some closeups of the carburetor. This first picture is with the engine cold and power on. This second picture is after a few minute with the engine running. It all looks good from that standpoint.

With this said, Can I plug the Heat Tube Port next to the choke? If I do, I am sure I should re-adjust the idle mixture screws...

Just start the engine and see if there is vacuum at that port, if not the internal passage to the choke is not connected so no worries, leave it alone like it is, they were designed with an open tube into a well to pull heat up, but with the electric on yours appears to work correctly.....is engine idle smooth and solid ( no stalling or sputtering when you put it in gear)??

If you have vacuum I would plug it , but its not a big deal
