I have a toggle switch near my starboard engine ignition switch. Any idea what it might be for? Can't find any info on it. New boat to me 1974 Searaider.

Is it red ?

No. It's a metal toggle switch. It is located next to a red light lens, I believe. There are two of these red lenses, both located next to the engine ignition switches, but only one toggle switch located on the starboard side. I have a picture but haven't attempted to add pictures to the forum yet.

In my former tricabin, the red lens near the ignition switch would become lit accompanied by a somewhat piercing audio alarm whenever the engine rpm's were too low to drive the proper amount of oil lubrication through my Walter V-Drives.

This of course has nothing to do with your toggle switch.

This V-Drive red warning lens and low-lubrication alarm will often sound when we first begin cranking the engines over and prior to them starting up. Because the engine isn't running at that point, the lack of circulating lubrication will set the alarm off.... a sound that can be annoying and raise the blood pressure of visitors

But, your Sea Raider may not even have V-Drive engines (I don't know) and therefore if this is the case - please forget what I have mentioned re: that red lens

You are exactly correct. The annoying sound does occur when starting the engines and disappears when running. I thought it had something to do the fume alarm gauge, even though I run the blower for 4 minutes before starting the engines. Thanks for clearing up that mystery. I am trying to post pictures. I have uploaded to Imgur.com but am now at an impasse.

The toggle switch in question

The red thing is actually a 15A circuit breaker. If the circuit draws too much power the button will pop out, and you reset by pushing back in.

Not sure about the toggle - placement is similar to where Trojan put emergency start solenoid / crossover switch or horn switch on newer models.

Your alarm is a engine alarm it turns off when you get oil pressure . It will turn on when you lose oil pressure or over heat (hopefully ) You don't have V-drives FWIW

On my 75F32 the toggle switch is the emergency start .Use to pull power from the opposite battery.
