Have run out of time and bucks basically to refinish the entire topside before May 1st...project for next spring now.
Any worthy quick fixes that look decent....to deal with the white of the gel coat worn almost thru to the fiberglass in spots on the deck walkways?
Any help would be appreciated....don't want another season exposed like that.
Thanks in advance.
Paul

I'm assuming your talking about the non-skid areas? You could hit the spots with a decent one-part polyurethane white and then go over the whole shooting match after the season is over. Possible you could get the right tint to match the outlying areas so it's not too noticeable.

It depends how big the area is and how fussy you are on it looking patched..... you could consider sanding the areas and then giving two coats of gel, you can use a brush (or foam roller) to do that. You will then have it sealed till you do the whole boat later and you won't have to worry about removing the patched area if it was a different coverup job material.Paul - SW Ontario wrote:Have run out of time and bucks basically to refinish the entire topside before May 1st...project for next spring now.

Talk to your local glass guy about how to mix gel to paint it on small areas for temp coverup. If it is not a non skid area ask him about the wax you put in the 2nd coat to give the shine.

Topside fix...
Thanks for the input...
I picked up Interlux Yacht Enamel...prepped the spots, then with quality brush I touched up the areas.
Water sanded the areas after drying to blend...
Now going to strip the topside of last years wax, clean again, then wax again.
Did this on a left over piece of fiberglass from the transom walk through...it worked nicely...not perfect but plenty good till the whole topside can be done at the end of the season.
Once again, thanks for the input...this is a great site and forum.
-back to fun in the sun!
