What's a good Ant and Spider preventative?

Post by jwrape »

I have been spraying down the lines from the dock to the boat for a while but of course the spiders drop from the ceiling of the dock and now we have ants, WHY I have no idea. They are simply EVERYwhere on the boat. Driving me crazy.

How do I get rid of these pests?

What do you guys do to keep the bugs and spiders down?

I have some of that at home. Do you spray inside and out?

I think "Bounce" dryer sheets are the deterrent for spiders. They don't like 'em. Placed in various locations...

I spray my power cords and lines to the boat every so often, as well.

I also am having an issue with ants.

No idea why, either. They must come up the docklines....
Annoying, to say the least.

I guess they're really bad this year.

I have found that the shell "No-Pest" strips are very effective and will kill every critter in the boat. They have to be opened and left hanging in a closed cabin. I learned this from several of my charter boat captain friends and it really works for me.

My boats are not in a shelter but I found if I spry the bridge cover(on the inside so if it rains it won't be washed off) and under all overhangs with Hot Shot available at Wall Mart this seem to work very well for me. If I don't spray as I unsnap the cover 1-3 spiders drop out of every snap.
was thinking of naming my boat "spider farm"
