Those costs have to be deducted from the sale price to give a true picture of what your net was.

BUT... we are looking at mainly depressed prices in the US market, dictating what boats are selling for across both borders.
The foreclosures in the US of houses, and the bad loans and mortgages have forced people to give up luxuries like boats at firesale prices, along with firesale prices on homes as well.

We weathered the storm here a lot better than they did, but the results of the used boat market have spilled over as well.

Remember, not everyone is in the position you are to wait it out, most don't have that time on their hands. There are a lot of Panic selling. House or boat, house or boat, house or boat...House wins out.
That is why we see the prices we do.
Presently, it is a Buyers market.

It took 2 years for the right person to find out about the boat, understand what they were looking at, and appreciate it enough.... but the guy did come along eventually.
That was then, 10 yrs ago... don't expect that to repeat in these times.

Prices only drop if you agree to sell it for that. Supply and demand. If a crap load of people sell at 15K, that's what the demand will expect. If owners refuse to sell at 15K and insist on 30K, THAT'S what the benchmark price becomes. Please don't contribute to the 'Made in China' and WalMart-ization of the world. Stuff made by real people with real quality is worth real money, even if they can make 'new' stuff cheaply by paying uneducated, unskilled labourers $2.00 a day (just don't sneeze on the new stuff or it will crack, sink or explode).

Admirable thoughts 'maniac', all I am saying hoping for a return to the past and ignoring the now can be folly :!:

I don't think the problem is as simple as Trojan owners pricing low... it is the market we play in, too many boaters have been forced (by availability and marketing pressures) to cross over to 'plastic' boats (like Carver's  ) and the increasing qty. of those on the market are pushing prices down.... as those owners think by buying bigger and more expensive plastic boats it will give them a better experience on the water.

I don't disagree with you... I am just hoping things turn around a bit or at least plateau.

I very tempted. He hasn't even changed the name of the boat and I am still listed as the owner in the Vessel Documentation listing(Coast Guard)

Will, go for it. What's the worst that can happen... you'd have to come join us at Kinsale just around the corner from ya and have some of Tony's "happy hour" drinks?
