Isn't that what a TROJAN is used for ? :) :)

That reminds me..
My sister was looking at pics of my boat and made a comment that I should remove the "Sticker" that said TROJAN
until I told her that that was the name of the Manufacturer, it was good for a chuckle

Good one JD, I keep meaning to pick up a booter pack but always forget. I can't count on two hands how many times I've had to remove one of my batteries to boost someone and get them on thier way after a weekend on the hook.

After going over the list of spare parts there are several items not really necessary.#1 -carb, carry a complete overhaul kit instead carbs dont break but you will have the parts to rebuild it. #2-alternator if you have twin engines both alternators are not going to crap out at the same time. carry a small set of booster cables.Plus carry a voltage regulator.#3- bildge pump-you should already have 2 or 3 installed (maybe they should be upgraded if old).If proper maintance is carried out save any servicable parts as spares. Why carry all new parts (cost and weight)when the old ones being used on the boat If you are unable to carry out and diagnoise the problem yourself what good are some of these parts. Dont complain about fuel consuption.

Spare carb vs kit ? time saved spare alternator ? can't run the boat if a bearing goes out on one and locks up , Jumper cables ? it your boat wiring is up to par then you should have switches where you can combined the batterers

I allways carry a spare bilge pump , needed it 3 times in the past few years , but always for someone else's boat ( so far)

as far as diagnosing the problem No problem for me and some others . even if you can't diagnose the problem you could get help from someone even a marina that may not have the part . I have help many a boater out.

Do you really think you will burn that much more fuel carring some spares ?

Your list should be appropriate to your distance traveling away from your home port.

A day tripper need not carry the items that an overnighter will or what someone doing the Graet Loop will need.

2 hours from home and XYZ component fails on one engine, let's say the alternator stops charging. You're just going to bring her in.

Same trip, the carb float springs a leak and the engine floods. Unlikely you will diagnose and rebuild the carb in the middle of the waterway with your guests on board. Best just to bring her on in on one engine.

Now if you're out on a 7 day cruise, that's another thing entirely.

Overnighting in a cove? Different story again.

Especially if your sanitation system goes down.

Extra belts, hose clamps, wood plugs, hose repair tape, underwater epoxy, fuel filters, toilet repair kit, fuses, bulbs, trans fluid, duct tape, electrical tape, gasket material, and lots and lots of tools, but my favorite is my Leatherman Wave....that and a box of matches and I'll go save the world.....
