Do you know anybody with a skid steer or a tractor backhoe? I built a quick-tack cherry picker for my 863 bobcat & works great for pulling boat motors. Just gotta watch the load rating on the machine & how far out front you're picking. Mine will get tipsy with big block 454s, I just add a few more suit case weights to the rear of the skidder & pick away. It does get tricky if the boat is on stands, but with a good operator there's nothing to it. Just throwing that option out there?

If you have Cat shop around give them a call? They will sent out there boom truck also, but hold on to your shorts when you get the bill.

Larry- I used TKO Orange, $85 a gallon made 5 gallons and soaked it for 48 hours - used a pressure washer - came out nice but I should have covered head liner!

Capt. I got a crane guy $400.00!!

I am trying to disconnect shaft from transmission but the nuts are frozen. My nuts fell off trying to get them free!

I can't disconnect trans from engine while it's in the belly of the beast so out they both shall come!

Backhoes in texas, if you live in the country yep, city dwellers have a hard time with parking places, home owners groups etc. LOL

the rebuilt is in the garage, the old one is on the boat but completely free and ready to get lifted out. I am going to leave the trans attached and have that pulled as well. Probably the first week in October. I'm going to build the new one and fire it up in the garage before I attempt to re-install. I am not going to re-install until March.
