Stay with cruseair as you see it lasts and being a split system you know the cruseair replacement will work .

Have you checked to make sure its bad and not a simple repair ?

Yes we have checked it out, the compressor is bad, and we would like to go to a self contained unit and up grade to a ditigal thermostat

It that case you have many options . Cruseair of course marineair and Mermaid . all are good units Price is one thing to look at ,But who can service near you should be a factor .

If the one of the units when on mine I would stay whit the remote system on the forward unit ( 3 evaporators/outlets ) v berth / dinning area galley side of salon . the duct work would be almost imposable . on the other hand the rear unit with one would be easy to with a self contained unit.

I've heard the digital temp controls are touchy when running on a gen-set and don't like power spikes, I'd stay with the old school stuff ..IMPO
