I AM STRESSING OUT

Post by antlr-king »

I am looking for manifolds for these 318's. I really only need 1 manifold. But I need all 4 risers and 20 degree elbows. Where is the best (cheapest)place to get these? How come everything is GD expensive? The new engines $4000 and to get them ready to put back in the boat $4000 and growing...........Not sure how much more I can take.
I talked with the marina about starting on the bottom. The wait for the do-it-yourself yard is over a month wait. :x
I talked them into lifting her up and tarping where she's at so I can get started and wont have to wait to be moved. But thats not cheap either.
Also I have to find a vaccum sander to rent for a day to do a quick sand job. I have to buy the paint from the marina they said......WTF......I have some time to keep moving fwd since I'm waiting on engine parts to come in. My business is slow so I can get get some stuff done. And the weather here as been great the past few days.
Spent all day today trying to find more parts. Some are hard to find. I think I found everything I set out to get today. Tomorrow will be another challenge. I need all the water hoses. That is my goal tomorrow. Along with finding that vaccum sander.
Sorry for venting but it has been very stressfull...
My goal is to be in the water by May 1st. That will be a little before 1 year since we bought her. It would be nice to take her out on the 1 year anniversary. With O hours on the hour meters.

I also want to remove the FL#'s and registration sticker from the side. What/ Where do you guys post your number's? I was thinking about making a board and hanging from the bow rail. I think that looks better than the crooked lettering thats on the side of the hull.

You should check with state law, here is a cut and paste of requirements for Florida
The vessel’s registration number and validation decal must be displayed as follows.

* Number must be painted, applied as a decal, or otherwise affixed to both sides of the bow and maintained in a legible condition.
* Number must read from left to right on both sides of the bow.
* Number must be in at least three-inch-high bold BLOCK letters.
* Number’s color must contrast with its background and placed where it can be clearly observed.
* Letters must be separated from the numbers by a hyphen or space equal to letter width; for example: FL 3717 ZW or FL-3717-ZW.
* Decal must be affixed to the port (left) side of the vessel within six inches of the registration number. The decal may precede or follow the number.

Torcan , I have lived in Fl for 50 years. I am a USCG liscensed captain. I know the law on where to place your Fl#'s and registration decal(Thanks anyway). I also know that the picture you posted does not have a bow rail. And I have seen many vessels with there FL#'s posted on a placard hanging or mounted to the bow rail. Same location just higher up. I have also seen them posted/displayed on the flybridge. I was just looking for info on anything more appealing looking location.

Alex, I looked at that ridged sander today. I think I'm going to rent 1 for a couple hours and borrow a big shop vac from my uncle.

Tad, I check with them on manifold parts. Along with 4 others. The prices varied between the 4 only $65. So I guess it is what it is.

Prowler, I talk with Bob today. Although he could possibly come up with the parts I need, his prices wont by far be the lowest. I did order some parts from him the past few days because I couldn't find them anywhere else.
Though I probably shouldn't say that. All the prices I find are way out there.

I can feel ur pain

I pulled mine while it was in the water , only ended up replaceing the risers ,, installed them back and stripped out a stud right behind freeze plug took manifold back off pulled stud out tapped it the next size up 3/8 and then broke broke the tap off in the hole after trying to drill the tap out I try to drive a star bit in on a angle to mabe turn it and the tap breaks and now inside head in the water port ,, got another bolt threaded in but at that point I had seen enough back at it tomorrow

Well...., excuse me, USCG Captain
if you knew the answer, then why ask?
Putting the numbers anywhere else, doesn't make it legal. Just means those that should be doing their jobs, are not.

Okay play nice

And BTW they are posted the same way in Texas, I think that is universal in the states. :)

Except documented vessels of course.

Registration numbers on a boat? Oh yeah, mine is documented. I don't need those stinkin' numbers.
