First of all: HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Here is, a little off topic, a nice picture of my aircraft. It was taken by a skier high up in the mountain, just outside the meteorological station in Juvasstind in Norway. We have a tradition to drop a package with newspaper, a bottle of whiskey and a box of chocolate to every christmas and easter. And this is on the christmas evening.

I have made some work on the Trojan. Like repairing the hatches. They were all destroyed from water and blistering. I cleaned all hatches, grinded them, and glued in divinycell. Here is a picture taken half hour after the glueing.

I have also done the same with the bow. It was pretty soft, and was in a need for a "upstiffer".

The "headlights" is taken away, due to preparation for paint. The same is done with the stainless steel inserts in the rubber fender list.

We have started the sanding ofthe hull. And we will put on the first layer of color, deep blue metallic. The swim platformis gone, the same are the outlets from drain in aft deck. By teh way; they will be changed to something in stainless steel. We will also change the hydraulics for the flaps.

I have decided to change plans for the platform. I will keep it original, in the original places. I think the guys who made the boat know whats the best. But we will reinforce it with teak wood. We will also change both prop shaft sealings and struts. My question is: should I change the shafts for something in 2" instead the older 1-1/4"??

The shaft size need will depend both on HP /rated rpm /gear reduction . All are factors in shaft calculation . along with shaft material

I am not sure, but after the argue with my "Queen" the wife, I will end up with 210 Hp on each engine, max rpm@4000, and torque just around 625. When the boat came from the factory it was fitted with pair of 454/350, and I think the old shafts should be strong enough for the new diesels....

You shafts will be fine , I hope you canceled your order on your big props . With 1 to 1 your going to be run a small prop 14 x 10 or 14x11 I would guess . Can you get more reduction ??

Yes, I thinkI can get another pair of gearboxes. There is a company here in town who have boxes with 1:1,51. Old but still OK.
But what about props on 18x17?

You should be fine with your shafts with 1.5 to 1 and 18x17 . No worries at all
