I noticed that my port side engine stringer appears to have some rot to it. There is about a 3/4" gap between the top of the wood stringer and the top of the fiberglass stringer cap. A stringer replacement is probably in order.
Has anyone replaced this stringer on an F-26? Does the motor need to completely come out or should I just loose about 50 lbs so I can fit under the deck? Any suggestions?

Make sure you have as complete a view as possibe of the work that needs to be done before starting. Is the other stringer OK? It seems unlikley that one would rot and the other would be fine. When you start taking apart an old boat, you should expect to find other issues.
Good Luck,
