F28 V-Berth conversion

Post by shawzy44 »

Any F28 owners out there convert your single bunks into one large bed up in the V-berth? I am looking for any advise or photos to help with this project.

Thanks!!
Kevin

In the porcess of rehabing my f28 and would like to see any versions of conversion for vbirth, I thought taking out the top bunk would be the way to go also but not down to that project yet.

you have more room if you build a bed at the same level as the top bunk but you lose head room thats why i went with the lower bunk way. You are more than welcome to come see mine larry if you ever get ft worth way or id be happy to get you other pics

Wow yzf195 that looks great! I was thinking of using the upper bunk so that I can keep the storage space underneath. Your boat looks like its in great shape have you done anything else that you can recommend? Any more photos?

Thanks,

Kevin.

I would also be interested in hearing any feedback... have been considering the same thing.... but now having lived with the split bunks, i can see that it affords a little extra room up forward for changing clothes or general privacy... creating one big bunk will take that space away, and i'm not totally sure i'm ok with that yet....

I have begun. I decided that the bed size and space beneath was way too valuable. I have started the upper bunk conversion using marine ply and 4" foam with 2" on memory foam. I will upload pics soon. It is really very easy once you remove the starboard bunk and use it as a template for the new plywood.

I have ordered the custom foam mattress 4" firm foam and 2" memory foam from FOAMITE.

kevin you need to make the photos public... most users will not become members just to view photos. Or use an open site like flickr.com, photobucket.com etc

No difference... even the ones in your sig are not available... says unauthorised. Log out to see what we see when you click the above links.
Looks to me as those links are the ones for when you login... not public viewing for us and the don't end with jpg or whatever which is a graphic file.

Try it now....
Three pictures of the V-berth conversion. I installed the 4X4 sheet to the Starboard first then cut the 4X8 sheet to fit. I used the Starbord bunk as a template to get the contour of the hull for both sides.
