hello!!! I bay a trojan f-32 1975 with twin caterpillar 3208 natural aspiration of 210 HP with boxes twin disc 502 1.54: 1 in perfect conditions, but it does not have props, i would to know what props I must use to reach a good speed 18 or 19 cruise and 22 or 23 max. thank you!!!!

I've seen the boat and it had props when I saw it. What happened to the props? I have a spare set from my f-32 twin diesel (200 hp) but I'm not sure they'll work with the 3208 since the RPM is different.

Hello jav my props was robbed for that reason it is that I do not have the step nor the single diameter. i memory that was of 4 blades. In any case thanks for your aid!!!. Equal if you can tell me the data of your props, in order to see if similar ones can do me, the cat 3208 work in load to 2800 max rpm. whichever knots cruise and max reach your boat whit 200hp?

My spare props are 16" diameter with 15" pitch - no cup -3 blade. My new props are 17" diameter 14" pitch with medium cup. My engines are 3800 RPM Max and I also have 1.51 : 1 gears. My boat cruises at 20-21 knots at around 3400 RPM and tops out at 24 knots at 3800-3850.

Your boat maybe slower since the Cat 3208 is a heavy engine - mine are volvo 6 cylinder turbo diesels. If I recall correctly, the previous owner was claiming a cruise speed of around 17-18 knots. Did you buy the boat from Jay over at south shore?

So, someone finally bought the pretty Blue F32! Congrats - CAT-3208s are very nice. You can add Turbos for another 50-75HP each with no issues of overloading them.

I have a pair of Cummins 6BTA 220HP engines, 1:1 Velvet Drives. I'm playing with 17x20's now - but they're a bit over-pitched (except when I'm runninglight and down seas!).

Do you have stock struts and 1.25" shafts?

If so - these are the limiting factor. You're limited to 17" diamater - and will need about 22" of ptich to work with the 2500RPM(?) and 1.54:1 trannys. This is a lot of tourque on a 1.25" shaft ... but will work if you can find a prop with this dimensions. a 4-blade might be best, but 3 is generally faster ...

Hello jav! it has badly understood my boat is “like” the one of the Link that associate sends excuse me!!!. I live and my boat is in Venezuela! I was writing broker for to facilitate me the information of props but not answer me… shipment photos so that they see my boat them, my boat is in very good conditions, but some trief had stoled my prop… I also thank for the information that I provide to the friend rossjo! Jav if you can obtain me the props information whit the broker will be Serious helpful for my!!!

Jason told me he was going to try to look at the props on his boat when it comes out of the water but he's not sure when that will be.

I ran a few calculations on your boat. My boat performs somewhere between an average and slow planning boat. I used a weght of 17500 pouinds for yours becuase the 3208 is heavy. The calculator recommended props as follows:

17" diameter x 20.5" pitch with medium cup - 4 blades.

this should produce a cruise speed of around 19 knots and a top speed of around 21-22 knots.

THIS IS ONLY AN ESTIMATE!!!!!! NO GAURANTEES THIS WILL WORK AS I"M NOT A PROP EXPERT.

Trojan F32, 15,000lbs, 30ft waterline-length, Avg Planing hull
2x210HP engines, 1.54:1 transmission, cupped props

They recommend a 22" dia, but you are limited to 17" on the F32 (with stock struts/shafts), so:the recommended props are:
> 3-blade = 17x26 cupped = 22knot max @ 25gph, 16knot cruise@ 13gph
> 4-blade = 17x24 cupped = 22knot max @ 25gph, 16knot cruise@ 13gph

My recommendationis the 3-blade, so you'll pane out faster. I'd also consider a set of aftercooled turbos

Paul - yes ... that Blue F36 with the custom back door looks great (in the pix). I am considering a weight reduction on my F32 (already removed inside doors), including Lexan Margard side windows and a similar look for the rear - but who knows?

The Cat 3208s spin to 2800? I didn't look them up, so my error! Will the 3208s spin 2800-3000RPM w/o Turbos?
