Nice looking boat for a fair price...
The one thing about those motors is trying to obtain cooling system parts.
I don't think that engine setup was original for '75. According to John at Marine Tech, it wasn't until after Lee Iacocca took over Chrysler that he deemed that Chrysler was not in the marine business and discontinued their marine applications. Trojan then went the Ford route, with Ford acquiring what was left of the cooling systems that Chrysler used, and adapted them for their use.
Hey, but who knows for sure, the whole story...

actually the heat exchanger is the same model number as the 440, Chrysler converted the Ford engine to marine use to satisfy their contracts after they discontinued the 440. So all of the cooling parts are off the shelf items easily attainable at Beacon Marine Supply or other suppliers. Having the Ford 460 engines is a plus over the 440, the 440 was discontinued in the late 70's maybe early 80's, whereas the 460 was made well into the 90's having made 10X more engines the price for parts are way cheaper and can be obtained at most Advance, Auto Zone, etc.. I can buy a new marine longblock 460 for 1/2 the price of a 440, the 460 has more horsepower and better fuel economy, but In my opinion nothing beats a 454!

The 440 and the 460 have very liltle in common if anything other the both were converted for marine use by Chrysler marine . I have worked on both in fact one trojan F36 I worked on had one of each . I always felt the 440 was the best big block marine engine ever made . could not kill them . you still can get parts for them .

toe rail
Did you guys see the toe rail up on the bow of this baby? Do you think they just painted the teak or removed it and replaced with something?? I'm starting to hate my toe rail. I gave it a quick sanding for my holiday guests and it's already cruddy...just pointless!
For a spring project, I was considering removing it and the attached grab rail. I'd give the pieces to a local plastic shop and have them recreate the toe rail in some kind of white plastic. I lil 5200 and screws and I'll never sand that f..#%@*&% thing again.

Althought the teak toerail is a maintenance nightmare, it part of the charm and beauty of our 35 year old F36. You just don't see that type of craftsmanship on the new mass produceds cruisers.
If you tear yours off for plastic, I'll pay for shipping your old sticks to MN! Over the next 20 years, I'll probably need some spare parts

no toe rail
That's interesting prowler...wonder if it was optional when new or if some folks just removed them right away. A few more sandings and mine will cease to exist anyway....gettin' a little thin! At a fraction of a millimeter removed per sanding, I wonder how many hundreds and hundreds of times it's been sanded since 1982?

Tony I think it was optional their is no sigh of it ever being there . there is a 1974 near mine that also shows no sign of having one . it would be a lot of work to remove as the SS rail would have to be removed first
