Re: H Channel for F32

the windows come out from the inside with the removal of a few screws. Asstated earlier glass comes first then the channel. I've seen mention about the channel of a different style than"H" but I haven't seen any.

Re: H Channel for F32

The oil I was refering to is liquid and is dispensed from a dropper type bottle about the size and style of "Visine". It seems that the CRC will work too but I'm not sure of lube properties on the metal. Also keeping the overspray to a minimum might be a pain.

Re: H Channel for F32

Can't come up with the brand name right now but I assume any type that is compatable with metal against non-metal will be fine. Also check with a good Train/hobby shop in your area.

Re: re-core and extending

Here is the issue of Epoxy vs Vinylester vs Polyester. Epoxy resins stick to other materials with 2000-psi vs 500-psi for vinylester resin and even less for Polyester resin. Cured Epoxy also is highly resistant to moisture absorption. It bonds to dissimilar already cured materials which makes repair...

Re: H Channel for F32

I had replaced the front port side window (with the angle) about 5 years ago on my 78 F-32. In my area there was no problem finding both 3/16" or 1/4" laminated. I replaced it with the 1/4" because the price wasn't that big of a difference. It fit like a glove in the original "H&...

Re: Leaky "10G" Plumbing Fittings

I have found that with the "QUEST" brand I have been able to replace, and interchange any fittings I have on my 78 F-32. I buy mine at my local Lowes.

Re: re-core and extending

Done some of that work myself, but the professional glass guys in my area say if you leave any original glass work in place it will most likely be epoxy and to mix materials is a no-no.

Quads was a bad choice

I guess I should of used a more proper term for what I was refering to. The response to the word quad was so much better than the help I got for the question, but thanks to all. Rich.

Front deck core on F-32s

I,ve got a 78 F-32. There are 2 areas on the front deck that I will be replacing during the off season. I am aware that the deck is cored in quadrants, but does anyone know how many there are? I was going to replace a large section to correct the 2 spots, but now I know this type of construction wil...

Pump problems

I too had my share of Jabsco pump problems. First of all, for any breaker trip problems check with an OHM meter the amount of amps a piece of equipment is using. Sometimes they draw more than they should due to many different factors. I read that you replaced the pump but I'm almost sure, and this w...

Butyl Tape Bedding

My 78 F-32 came from the plant with Butyl tape on all the stantions, windows, and deck hardware. I've had it over 30 years and it's still sealed. Just keep all the fasteners tight and if you have to do any removal just clean and reseal. There are a few modern sealers in todays market that are terrif...

O-Rings

I replaced mine about 5 yrs ago. If your lucky enough to have an old time hardware in your neiborhood like I do they will make them up while you wait. Just let them know that it's around fuel. "Viton" is one of the better brands for O-Rings and seals in the hydraulic fluids area. But, &quo...

More Stain Stuff

Contrary to some, Trojan didn't use oil on the interior and heres why. Us old wooden Trojan guys would always say it smells like a Trojan. The reason for this was that they used "Cuprinol" on almost all of the wood in the entire boat. This was an old tried and true method of wood preserver...
