To answer your question. Yes you will need a coil with a internal resistance of 1.5 ohms. If you are switching from a points system with a external coil. Related to this, I have 2 favourites. Similar to the Pershing, I have seen a Mangusta. 108' long. Surface drives. The first project I did was replacing the cabin top. Looking back It was easy to do but tool me along time. The curved edges of the top I did in solid mahogany and shaped with a plane and a sander. boat polish
I saw a boat the used poli glow on the hull last season and I was impressed with the way is looked. I decided to try it this year. After one season is looks just like the day is was put on.
