Bird Strike on my 30 Sedan !!!!

Hey All, Towing the boat to the ramp at 60+ mph when a Turkey Buzzard slamed my starboard windscreen! Needless to say I am now looking for: 1: A trick to getting the frame of the header, screws corroded, only 2" clearance to the screws from the Hardtop Brow. 2: Ant leeds on where I might find a...

Just replaced the cutlass in my 30" with the help of the forum.
Very easyily done with the strut removed. What A difference! Also had about an 1/8" wear.

Cutlass

Thanks Rossjo,

The treaded rod example looks goood as I do not have a press, the 400deg F temp is for the strut not the bearing which will probably be around 200 deg F by the time I get the bearing in and soak by blistered hands in " Burn be Gone " cream !!!!!

Thanks again

Cutlass Bearing Replacement

Hey All, Just pulled the Cutlass Bearing & Strut off the boat, the old one came out pretty easy, ordered the new one, any tricks to installing? Old Timer told me the easiest way was to put the strut in the oven @ 400F for a half hour while putting the bearing in the freezer for the same, says th...

Thank you Paul & Prowler, Prowler did you run a 13" dia? I agree and would like to run the largest dia 3 blade also. Not looking for speed so much as I am looking for Fuel Efficiency and the least amount of stress / work placed on the engine ( A Happy Area ) rarely will this boat be run at ...

Thanks Prowler,

The rated HP is 335 at the Crank @ 5200 RPM
If it does need a 12/10 that will be great, I can cut this one ( 13/10 ) down again to a 12 the problem is I can't re-pitch it any lower ( already been pitched down from 12 to 10.

Thanks, Abster

Thanks Guys After considering all mentioned I am going to go the easy way, the boat is used for recreational fishing & Day trips, desiel is going to be way to cost prohibitive, so what I have found is an inboard, reverse rotation, brand new, 5.7L ( 325 HP ) Chevrolet MPI/EFI complete marine engi...

Hey All, Captian M, went through all those previous issues, all is good as far as trim & hull. Pulled the carb and having it re-built, should be ready today, Boat is running OK, doing the carb because I noticed slight pop or starvation when at WOT and 4 bbls kicked in. Rodman had sucess by chang...

Actually the Chrysler is a 1976 400 B series motor, 300 hp stock, block casting # 3698-630 Prowler, I think I will run the 12 pitch for awhile, just to see what kinda fuel economy I get. Want to get it out for a full day and see what gives. I know @ 3600 rpm / 17 mph the secondary's are engaged and ...
