Re: 1972 F-36 port motor problems
Thanks everyone for the replies and suggestions. I'm going to try reconnecting the port motor's priming pump to see if the current problem stops when accelerating and decelerating in the 1500 to 2000 rpm range. It almost sounds like running without the priming pump is causing some kind of back flow ...

Re: 1972 F-36 port motor problems
Thank you Mike. I do not know what type of carb is on the boat but will find out. We have not checked the new carb for sediment but will. There's never been sediment in the filter on the fuel filter just prior to the carb. I didn't get any feedback on the condition of the carb when it was being rebu...

I have posted about what I believe are fuel problems affecting our port motor. The boat is powered with Marine Power 454's. About 2 years ago I began have some intermittent stalling problems typically after a short shut down and then restarting. Initially the boat would stall and shut down. After re...

Re: 1972 F-36 Port Motor Problem
Thank you for all the feedback and suggestions. My mechanic did replace the coil while replacing the distributor prior to starting our investigation of the fuel systems. Given the fact that the port carb has never been rebuilt since I've owner the oat (15 yrs) and that the problem has shown itself i...

1972 F-36 Port Motor Problem
I have been intending to send an update to an going post about a recurring problem with my port motor (454 Marine Power engines with 1000 hrs). Someone said it was best to start a new post and not go back and add to an old post so here we go. Unfortunately the problem I have been experiencing for al...

Re: Trojan F36 Port Motor Starting Problem
My mechanic and I are working on the fuel problem now. The problem happened again last night so we brought the boat into the shop. The same problem happened this morning after running the boat for about a half hr. Port motor starts when cold after last night and runs great. Stop and try restarting i...

Re: Trojan F36 Port Motor Starting Problem
We took our boat out again yesterday and the same problem happened when we shut down at our dock. At least this time we were at the dock and not trying dock the boat on one motor with a cross wind! That's never fun. Waited about five minutes after shutting down and the motor restarted and seemed to ...

Trojan F36 Port Motor Starting Problem
For about a year I've been experiencing a recurring problem with my port motor. After running the motor for an hour or more it won't restart after being shut down for around a half hour or longer. Sometimes I can get the motor restarted but when is does start it dies once I put the motor in gear and...

1972 F-36 Window Frame Rust Removal of Replacement
I have spots of rust bubbling up under the paint on my F-36 windows. Is there anything that can be done to stop and treat the rust? I had the forward windows replaced about 10 years ago and at that the time the window company that replaced them said the window frames had corrosion and they couldn't ...

Re: 1972 F-36 Salon window leaks
Greatly appreciate everyone's comments. I have photos and will post. Does anyone have pictures of the window frame tracking for their boat that has similar photos to mine so I can get an idea of what the H channel and other window track fittings should look like? Also there are a a few small quarter...

Re: 1972 F-36 Salon window leaks
Thanks you everyone for all the information, I will take pictures and post. I think the previous owner pulled out some of the H channel and other window sealing components for the vertical and horizontal tracks so I'm not sure what should be there and have no idea as to what is might be missing. Doe...

Re: 1972 F-36 Salon window leaks
The boat is a sedan convertible. There are also drain holes in the window frames. The window frames are not in terrible shape but they do have a few spots of surface rust. It would be great if they could be repaired, painted and then have new windows installed. If I install new windows are their win...
