Re: Crusader 350 oil change
I use a WIX 51515 on my crusader and straight 40 weight. Straight grade oil is better for the engines of older vintages.

Re: Crusaders seem underpowered, 10 meter sedan
Welcome to the Trojan family. Why were you running different RPM's on the engines while running? They should be synchronized when running. That is a huge issue in my opinion. Are the temperatures you are getting on the gauge accurate? You should try to verify the temps with a non-contact heat gun. D...

Re: Refinish Teak Bow Pulpit
OK, It's done. I am going to reinstall it with the new windlass in a couple of weeks. That teak sands like granite! I sanded, sanded and sanded. I have about 7 coats of Cetol natural teak finish on it. I am pleased with the results. I just hope it puts up with the abuse, but time will tell.

Re: Refinish Teak Bow Pulpit
Thanks Guys. I am also adding a new windlass, so I am going to cut the holes etc before finishing. I'll post a few progress pics shortly.

Re: Refinish Teak Bow Pulpit
One more question (of probably many) the underside was not finished where the unit was glued to the boat with 5200. It was also not finished where the teak was not accessible to add a maintenance coat of cetol. Should I leave the underside which is inaccessible without cetol? It is sanding down quite...

Re: Refinish Teak Bow Pulpit
Wow this Teak sands like cement! Almost done with side 1. Question about the first coat of Cetol. Did you thin it down a lot so it would penetrate? If so what did you use to thin it and how much?

Re: Refinish Teak Bow Pulpit
Thanks for the advice Captainmaniac and Away. Captainmaniac, The project looks awesome. I will skip the epoxy and just thin the first coat. I started sanding tonight and have come to the conclusion that it is a good thing winters are long in NH because this is not going to be quick... I'll keep you ...

Re: Refinish Teak Bow Pulpit
What type of epoxy did you use for the plugs? I was going to use Jamestown TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy for the coating. Thanks for the grain alignment tip. There are some large plugs on the side covering the threaded rods that help clamp the pieces together. Right now there is some material that alm...

Refinish Teak Bow Pulpit
I'm starting a refinishing project shortly. I pulled the bow pulpit off of my 1988 F36. The wood is still in good shape, but is getting weathered. I bought some teak to make plugs for where the old windlass was and also where I moved some hardware for my new anchor. I plan on using gorilla glue to s...

Re: F36 Fuel Consumption Question
I am very curious about the consumption at different speeds. I would love to find the sweet spot with out buying the flowscan, but I guess i need to get flowscans for the boat, and that is the only real way to find out. The key is running it just before the 4bbl kicks in, but it difficult to see tha...

Re: F36 Fuel Consumption Question
I know it is a really, really old post, but I was looking for exactly this information. I have an F36 and was wondering where the most economical cruising speed is other than hull speed. The only bit of information missing from the details were the prop sizes and engines. I assume that the engines w...

installation of new vacuflush
I have a 1988 F-36 Model 460. I am still suffering with the original head with a 9.7 gallon capacity. I decided to go for the best with a vacuflush. Now the big question was where to put the tank. I decided to get the all in one model 28 gallon with vacuum generator, filter, overboard discharge pump...

Re: Original Props?
I finally have the information on the transmissions... I think they are 1.88:1. The guy 2 boats over from me has a 1988 F36 just line mine with 1.91:1. He is running 20x20 props. Anyone have any 20x20's for sale?? 1 3/8" shaft
