Found the problem the marine dealer had sold me the wrong pump. Thanks to carters tech. support lineproblem should be solved

Hi changig fuel pump on 1974 383 i can not get it to pump.I do not know if the push rod is worn or i have the wrong pump?
I am looking for any thoughts on the subject, where should push rod be when putting pump in,what length should the push rod be.Thanks Greg
