New 10mtr for us and new to the board

Hi Everyone,
My name is Dana and I am the new owner of an 85'/05' 10 meter express. My former boat is a 28 Bertram that I have completely redone and is now for sale-- I have a salmon fishing charter on Lake Michigan and after getting married and having a lil one on the way-we wanted more confort and room. The 10 meter express was our target boat for quite some time-and our plan was to find a good boat that we could update and redo. After alot of searching-we stumbled upon our current boat-An 85' 10 mtr express that had been redone in '05. This was a bank repo-and a once in a lifetime opportunity to get one of the nicest 10mtrs on the market. It has 454's with 300hrs, new cutlass bearings, new AC/HEat, all new h20 pumps, new portholes, hatches, rubrail, teak veneered bulkhead walls in cabin, corian countertops and dinette, new upholstery throughout, new bimini, flat top glass range, custom L shape cockpit lounge seat, 17" flatscreen Big Bay Navigation COmputer with Nobletech Software integrated witha 48mile radar overlayed on GPS chartplotter,autopilot,and a full fiberglass and Awlgrip Job. I am excited to be her new steward-and look forward to meeting other 10mtr owners. I also have a 28 bertram and a 25 bertram- and have been very active on the Bertram31 discussion board. That is a really a great looking boat. It doesn’t look like there’s going to be much redoing needed. I hope it won’t break you heart to mount the downriggers on that beautiful teak.

I also do my boating in Lake Michigan, and have been to Grand Haven many times. It’s one of my favorite harbors.

Beautiful boat.

Someone took the time, effort andfunds to do a really nice update and upgrade on her.

THe wood veneer salon bulkheads and the port side seating arrangement are one of a kind. I've saved a few of your photos into my wishbook of ideas for my own cockpit and interior upgrade which will be done sometime when I can afford to do so.

I'd love to see more pictures!

Welcome to the forum. Although we have an orphraned brand, there is a lot of support to be found here on this website, just for the asking.

Thanks guys-- After doing work similiar to this on my 28 Bertram-- I did luck out. Previous owner had put over $45K into it between '03 and'05. Interesting part is --survey is calling it AVERAGE(and he isa personal friend) I was about to ask him what more I could do to the boat. Not much that I can think of. Paint is flawless and really shinny- I forgot to mention that it has DRIPLESS packings-PSS-
(my 10 meter purchase only took 8 years to finally do) The L shape is great-- I have removed the fridge and icemaker for tackle storage and am considering putting a helm chair my the wheel. I am saved the countless hours of glass and paint werk as well as updating the interior-RWS-I have looked at your vessel for quite some time over the past couple of years- very nice- Is you boat docked in Florida?-I am down there a couple of times a year and would love to see her. As far as the L shape goes- I will be glad to make some drawings and extensive pics--It is currently a scew down set up--I plan on hinging it at the back so it can tilt back(just clears the radar arch) to allow enging access.

Reelfishin--I have a couple questions I will send to you about your 10 mtr.

The pursuit comment makes me smile- my charter dock has a couple of 36 tiara's---I've had a couple people make the same comment.
The Bert is a gasser-- 302's that were new in 2007-
Bert has new electrical-Teak and Holly cabin floors-custom rear bulkhead walls with custom Carolina type rear windows, updated helm guages/switches- and all new upholstery. I am putting some finishing touches on the awlgrip- Topsides awlgrip/awlcraft.(not a flawless job--I am redoing some areas before selling her) It will be a great boat for someone looking for a turnkey 28 gas- or great diesel candidate.

WHile it probably makes no sense in todays economy, the 10 meter hull is a great candidate for an upgrade to the newer, lightweight diesels.

while she's 12,500 dry, this weight is for a stripped down vessel, no gen set, fridge, microwave, deck furniture, etc, etc, etc.

With cmplete outfitting, full water, fuel, spares, galley, fridges, icemaker, A/C, tools, gear and my 10' dink with 1o horse outboard, we weighed in at the unsceintific boatyard travelift at nearly 18,000 lbs! Add in our big portable livewell and that huge Igloo cooler When you start getting into this range, diesels can make a difference

The larger props and torque create additional lift vastly improving the running angle. Increased performance, handling, a drier ride with more of her out of the water andgetting her big, wide a$$ end up and out of the water makes a huge difference, especially when you load up with passengers.

I to have a 85 express. When and if you get pictures or drawings or whatever for the L shape I would certanily like to get a set.

Question: I've been thinking abour removing my wet bar its old and rusty and replacing it with seating. plus while I'll shower with water from a holding tank I dont' think I want to drink it. What is your oppinion. On the other hand have you decided what you are going to do with your wet bar---keep it or sell it. If you sell it, depending on what your thoughts are to my question I might be interested in buying it. Thanks and again very nice boat

this was the same boat I'm sure I missed by a couple of days because my wife didnt want to take the 4hr drive. I talked to the guy one weekend but she didnt want to go that weekend. So I called him in the middle of the next week to tell him I was coming up that weekend and it was sold!
Was it near Traverse City? From now on i'm telling her we're going to the mall and take a little detour.
Anyway I now have been searching for another 10meter but hard to compare to yours.
