Plasteak vinyl flooring

Post by gofish103 »

Went to the cleveland boat show presidents day and the cruising the vendors area and came across Plasteak. seems like a nice product. but my question is, they have a vinyl floor that looks like teak flooring and I was thinking of putting this product in the salon of my F-28. Has anyone ever used it and what were your thoughts.

I used it on the three cockpit hatches and the lazarette hatch.

Put it down in 2006, and itstill looks great today.

It holds up nicely.

It would be nice if I could find a product to use along the edges.

As flooring goes I hear it works very well, but a person replaced teak with plasteak on some rails and with the direct sun the warped.

Anyone think that it would be suitable on deck?

Sounds like direct sunlight might be a big consideration. White topside paint is an old favorite.

the catalog that they gave me claims that the imitationwood pieces hold up better than real wood, but like you said if it fades there is no way of refinishing it.

what Im wanting to do is take the carpet out and install inside.

RWS, what pieces are you talking about for around the edges? On display they used stainless L shaped trim around the hatches. but they dont sell that. they do sell a plastic trim that looks like teak, look nice and I think thats what I will use around my floor hatches.

Gofish, is that trim on thier website?

Do you know thier website address?

A nice trim piece on the edge is exactly what is needed on my hatches.

PLASTIC WEBB SITE IS:
http://plasteak.com/osc/index.php

They are located near me just outside of Akron. They also produce outdoor funiture, I have seen some of that and over 10 years have not noticed any fading. Used on a deck should not be a problem as long as you have a solid structure to glue it onto.
