78 F36 VS 85 F 36

Still looking for an F36 that is correct for me. I am looking at two right now an 78 that has a working Gen 0nan 6.5, rebuilt 454, new pumps, AC, Full enclosure and is extremely clean. This boat has been meticulasly maintained. The bilges are clean and dry.
This comes with 2 Tv,s Nef Fridge, Convection oven, all deck furniture, new bridge chairs etc..

The other boat is an 85 New riser and mainfolds, no ac, no gen and is also in nice condition. These motors have 800 hours on them. The boat has an enclosure that is older and does not have all the toys that the other boat has. Condition is good it also is extremely clean.

Does the group have any recomendations on which one to go for? and Why... The 78 is about 300 miles closer than the 85 so I have to consider relocation cost of the 85.

What does everyone think.

My feeling is that I could get them each for a very similar price..

is it the f-36 sedan or tri cabin? sometimes ''newer'' isn't always better.
why not look them both over?

meticulously maintained is worth a great deal.

So is AC and the gen set.

Boat engines and gensets generally don't wear out and die of old age and overuse. They are generally killed by the failure of a component, lack of maintenance or extreme conditions.

Freshwater exposue and aging is mujh kinder than salt and Florida sun exposure.

Both vessels are at the bottom of thier depreciation curve, you won't have any realdepreciation cocts moving forward.

I think the pre-1980 F36s have had maintenance problems with their wooden cockpit floors and framing. The cockpit went all glass after that and is impressively solid. I like the gauge cluster better on the post-1980 version as well but that's no biggy.

As usual, check the fuel tanks, all deck coring, often wet stringers, etc. very very well. I sure love my F-36...the few little problems I've had have been nothing.

My 77 f36 cockpit is all glass as a 74 in my marine also has the glass floor
I belive the teak/wood cockpit was a option in the 70s

I know of a nice 88/89 ? with diesels up your way for sale .

This is an f-36 Convert They both appear to have the glass floor..

Cuppa, why not let us help you...if you have a link or pics, post them. Perhaps we have seen these vessels before or have some knowledge of what we see with the links or pics to help you out...
You have the best of the best here and surely it can only do you some good. Just a thought.
