Potable Water Tank Fitting

All,
Looking for some suggestions in a replacement fitting for my water tank. The tank pictured is what I'm dealing with and as some of you 10M Mid owners know, there is no tank access cover by which to reach in and install a proper thru-hull fitting. So, I've ordered the following:

It will require reaming out the hole to 7/8", which isn't much more than it is now. I'm just looking for other ideas that I may have not considered if you have any.

Didn’t think of glassing in a fitting, good suggestion. It definitely wouldn’t leak like the PO’s installed fitting.

hope that picture you posted is upside down
just curious, I had to cut into my cabin sole to access that fitting
have you done the same?
regarding your problem, that fitting you found on amazon looks like risky business to me
you might try it if it's not too difficult because of limited access
otherwise I like the epoxy idea especially if you can find fiberglass fittings so
there would be little chance of things coming apart down the road

No, the picture is correctly oriented, (it appears correct when I view it anyway) the hole being at the bottom. I took the picture from the forward bilge looking aft. Regarding access, I removed the FW and Shower Drain pumps, which sit in the aft end of the forward bilge, to access the tank. It appears that the tank was fitted really close that lateral stringer on the forward end, so I would only have a few inches to work in from that way. An option none-the-less, but no, I didn't cut the sole (yet). I only have one hand access to work going in from the forward bilge, so hopefully that will be enough.
I agree with your assessment on the fitting which I received. It was a shot at trying something, but in true Scott fashion, I tend to ponder the decision after I've made it to see if I made the right one. I'm pretty certain that I will glass in a PVC fitting or similar to ensure it stays leak free. This has been a tough (access wise) job so far and so I don't want to be back in it anytime soon.
You mentioned you cut the sole to access yours, did you do a similar job? If so, I be curious to see what you have done if you would share.

How about using a Uniseal fitting? I know Peggie Hall (aka the Head Mistress) recommends them for holding tanks.

more of a curiosity at this point but the v shape in your photo is pointing upwards (on my screen)
might be my feeble mind but I'm seeing the photo as upside down

more importantly you are right, you don't get a lot of room by cutting the sole
but I think it makes things significantly easier
for some reason I decided to change the fresh water hose and I could not figure out
how to get to the hose clamp that's why I opened mine up
I did not have to remove the pumps

re: waywego's suggestion
those might work well with polypropylene (being thick and smooth) but it looks like our tanks are fiberglass
I think you would need a clean precise hole for it to have a chance
