Fresh water lines

Post by Stripermann2 »

I believe they're 1/2" water lines for the fresh water system. One as a small split under the cockpit, which I need to replace.

Anyone know for sure what size and name of these lines? How about the connectors too? Gonna try the local marine store later and see if they have what I need...

I have in the past repaired a line with couplers from the local hardware store but I want to be sure I get right lines, the first time.

Thanks
Jamie

Forget the marine store, get the tube and fitting at the hardware store. The main run is 1/2 " poly tube. It may reduce to 3/8" for indivual faucets.

You will need the type of brass fitting that has the brass insert. A compression ring doesn't work without the insert. Some stores sell a universal fitting. (No ring) (Home Depot)

To be safe cut the split hose and take it with you and match the size.

Thanks Gerry, is the poly at the hardware store flexible enough? This was one of my concerns...

Yes. I've used it on my boat and several others. It's the same type of hose used for ice makers but a larger size. Home Depot sells it here in Chicago.

Again, you have to use the brass insert in this type of tube.
