F24 express 1974 Flooring

Im about to buy my first Trojan, and the floor is a little weak but everything else seems good, I cant find a Mechanic that seems to know
I cant get anyone out to look at it.
I need to know if the floor is weak , is that Catastrophic? I'm not sure because of the age of the boat if the floor goes weak when its hitting waves or is it because they might have broke a support and never fixed it i cant tell. They don't know and they don't know much

If you are talking about the floor of the lower cabin then it could have rotten stringers. You can tell by pulling up one of the floor hatches down below in the cabin and where you have the supports running lengthwise along the hull you will see where there is a arch along the bottom of the support that runs lengthwise and you should poke up under that arch with something sharp like a nail or screwdriver. If it pokes up into there without much resistance then run as fast as you can away from this boat. A surveyor is well worth the investment if this boat is something you really think you want. They will be able to tell you things about the boat you would never know to look at and could save you from buying someone else's problems.

I replaced the floor of our F-26 a few years ago. Found that it wasn't the stringers that were rotted, but the joists (which were 1x2s). I replaced these with oak and replaced the plywood floor with teak/holly laminated plywood. Use the old floor as a template if you go this route. If the stringers are rotted you have a lot more work to do, but nothing that can't be accomplished with some time. Plenty of previous posts and advice on this. Of course, the best route is to pay for a survey before you buy.
