Removing the name on my boat
I just purchased a 76 F32 and the name has been painted on the transom. We would like to change the name. Does anybody have any ideas on how to get the paint off without harming the gel coat?
TEST MEK or Lacquer Thinner - but don't let it get in the water (please).
I've seen Oven Clesaner work well also - but its hard to keep out of the water (and you MUST wear gloves).
.... Buff it out as an absolute last resort ...

the gods may not like it
changing the name on your boat is not considered the luckiest thing to do. There is a way to go about it that can be kind of fun, including a party and apease the gods of the sea as well. I am not extreemly supersticiouse, but on the other hand I dont take bannanas fishing with me either.

Might change it this Friday, Oct 13th - and involve a Virgin (or 2!?).
