The rule of thumb, I learned, is 120 watts per 1 amp. If your starting amps are 11.5 that equals 1380 watts to start the a/c. The honda 2000, I think, is around 1600 continuous, 2000 watts surge.

If 11.5 is your running amps, then starting amps could be up to 13.5 amps. That equals 1620 watts, which is pushing the edge.

I agree about the honda 2000, and think you may be pushing the upper limit of one with the current A/C start up load. The 3000 is a great option, but it's heavy and may not fit on your swim platform. The 2000 will (I use mine when we're out for more than 2 days off the hook). My suggestion is to buy one, try it to see if it works on the A/C. You can always buy the second one and parallel cables if not. 2 Honda 2000's would fit nicely on the swim platform. They're nice and quiet, too. We run an ac cable with 30amp plug into the power inlet so now it's charging the batteries as well as running AC appliances.

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! You can't parallel generators.

I agree about IN GENERAL not parallelling generators, but the Honda 2000EU has the capability of paralleling with the Honda 2000iA Companion.

Steady, big fella. Take a breath....breathe in and out slowly, go to the happy place....

I have one of those dual plugs from Honda and connected a neighbor's Honda 1k and our 2k together for use in our house after Hurricane Charley. It worked like a champ! Those two little buggers working together powered our big Viking fridge, a chest freezer, a bunch of lights, fans and my saltwater aquarium. Wouldn't it be nice if American companies made stuff like that...damned it!

You proved me wrong. Honda had built someting into there generators to make this posible, but don't try it with other manufactures models.

Like I said you can tie the 2 hondas together ( not all hondas ). The reson is they are inverter gen sets (they make DC and change it to A/C ) strange but it works ,
I would not try it on any other genset for sure
