I'm in the process of installing a 12,000 BTU CruisAir air conditioner with reverse heat in my F-26. I'm not sure wether I should give it it's own shore power plug, or wire it into the existing electrical panel where it can be powered by the generator as well as shore power. The generator is a 2.5kw Kohler and is rated @ 20 amps which is the same amperage rating recomended for the A/C unit's breaker.
Has any one used a small generator like this to run a 12,000 BTU unit and what were the results?
Thanks,
Paul

fire hazard
My 30 amp cord gets a little warm when I'm running the 16btu a/c in the salon. I'd put in an extra one. Nothing scarier than the plug melting down and turning your boat into a pile of tnt!
